What is a good brand of flea and tick spray or shampoo?

I cant get rid of fleas from my dog.I have tried bathing him and spraying him. What is a good brand of flea and tick spray or shampoo?
Get a topical spot treatment from your veterinarian, you use them once a month, and they have the best treatment results. Get one of the following:

Advantix,

Advantage,

or Frontline (my least favorite). What is a good brand of flea and tick spray or shampoo?
Over the counter medications do not generally work but I tried the Hartz ultraguard Pro and it worked like a charm. Bathe with a flea shampoo and shen dry use the medication. The only problem with it is that it is water soluable and you cannot bathe or take your dog swimming or let it get in the rain. I switched to a procuct from the vet. It is your best option. They usually won't charge you for an office visit either. I hope this is helpful.
Only thing that completely works is a monthly topical liquid like Frontline Plus or Advantix --- the rest just gets rid of a few adult fleas, the larvae and eggs hatch and your dog has fleas again.

Sprays and baths, collars, dips, etc. can be very harmful to your dog - the chemicals are harsh.

Dawn dishliquid is horrible, causes burns of the throat and eyes - and, again, doesn't work except on a few adult fleas - I wish people would stop coming up with that old wives tale clunker.

Cheap Harz products have been known to poison dogs --- do NOT use them.

Be sure to put Frontline Plus or Advantix on your dog every single month - no more fleas or ticks.

If he is really infested, first take him to the vet, get a pill called ';Capstar';, that gets rid of all fleas within an hour, then bathe him to get the dead fleas off --- then apply Advantix or Frontline Plus --- no more fleas or ticks for a full month - worth the price, believe me.
Go to your local vet and ask for a pill called ';Capstar'; (nitenpyram) They sell for about $5.00 each but they will make the fleas drop dead withing 30 minutes. Then go through the hair with a fine toothed come to get out all the flea dirt. (little black spots that look like dirt) Then you have to keep your pet away from all the fleas. Or you will end up having to do it again.
The best thing I've found is to bath your pet in the Dawn dish washing liquid, this will kill all fleas and is used by wildlife rescue.I would also suggest sprinkling the 5 % Sevin dust on your entire lawn to kill all the fleas. This can also be used on the pet to kill fleas and ticks.Just make sure it is the 5 % Sevin dust.
First put Frontline on him to get rid of the flees that he has. Then call your vet and ask them to recommend a product. You may have to bomb your house to kill the flees he brought into the house,. You can buy the spray at a Pet Store or Walmart. You have to leave your house for 8 hours when you use that. Your pet can't be in there either.
What i use for my dog is ADAMS flea %26amp; tick shampoo and spray. It work really good if you bath your dog in the shampoo and spray him for about three days straight or until fleas come off. When i first used it on my Shitz tzu after giving a bath i'd brushed him with his spiky brush and can se all of the fleas coming off of him. Now today i wash him with it once a week and he's haven't had a single flea sense.
