How do u give a guinea pig a bath and what type of shampoo do you use at my petstore they have a spray shampoo

at my pet store they have a spray shampoo dose that work and is it true that guinea pigs play together live togetherHow do u give a guinea pig a bath and what type of shampoo do you use at my petstore they have a spray shampoo
We use ';squeaky clean'; as well, as its specifically made for small pets like the piggies. but, piggies do NOT like baths (my current ones are terrified by them, but i've had others that tolerated them more), and rarely require them. guinea pigs are generally very good about grooming themselves, and frequent bathing will irritate their skin.

i would not ever suggest introducing two pigs while being bathed. you should introduce them in a normal, non-stressful environment and see if they will get along (likely if they are females, or a male and a female, but males and males will often fight unless they've been raised together, depends on the particular piggie). How do u give a guinea pig a bath and what type of shampoo do you use at my petstore they have a spray shampoo
You shouldn't give a guinea pig a bath unless for some reason they're dirty.

Put them in a shallow amount of water (lukewarm). Wet the guinea pig. Use the shampoo (I like Squeaky Clean brand for small animals). Make sure to keep the water and shampoo as far away from the face as possible! Rinse off very well, then dry off and keep warm in a towel for a while.

Yes, guinea pigs are herd animals and do best in groups.
Yes, I give my guinea pigs baths, and they actually like them. I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and it works great. Put about 2-3 inches of warm water in the bath tub, and slowly put them in there...even let them put their front feet on your hand if they are insucure. Then get all but their face wet and rub in the soap, then rinse them throughly. Just be sure that before you put them back in their cage, you blow dry them so they don't get sick. And yes, guinea pigs love to have companions, they will play, eat, and sleep together. And it is actually recommended that you get more than one guinea pig at a time so they will have a companion(s). I hope this helps.
your pig should never need a bath if treated well. this can be dangerous to the animal.
be gental and u can use normal shampoo. but im no expert visit:

it has get info on how to bath
Why? Are you trying to introduce two guinea pigs? If you are you should try doing it the normla way first. Get the two guinea pigs and put one on each site of some neutral territory and then let them find each other. Thye will display typicla domainat behaviour like rumble-strutting, teeth-chattering and even mounting. But thats normal. Only seperate them if tehy begin full on figthing. If they do fight they should be seperated and may be able to be reintroduced at a later date.

What your thinking of is a buddy bath these are usually used when two bonded guinea pigs fall out, like during puberty males tend to fight so sometimes people give them, buddy baths. The idea is because bathes are so so terrifyign and scary, the two guinea pigs bond with each otehr through the horror of being bathed.

I've never tried a spray shampoo. And guinea pigs should only be bathed every 3 to 4 months and it dries out their skin. I bath both my boys every three months normally during teh school holidays, I usually trim Spikes coat too because he's an abbyssinnian cross and his fur gets rather long at the back, a couple times its been so long that he's been stepping on it when he walks, so yeha he needs to be trimmed. lol

I use this shampoo: http://www.bitsforpets.com/images/thumbs鈥?/a>

Shaws rabbit and guinea pig, mine says mild on the bottle.

As for bathing them. Fill a bowl up with warm water, get your guinea pig and support the bottom of his body and thoroughly wet his fur, don;t get watre near his face or eyes. Then squeeze a small amount fo shampoo onto your hand and rub it into his fur. Then spill away the water and get another bowl of warm water, wash the shampoo out and make sure none is left in. Then place your piggie on a towel and gently shy him off. Then groom his fur and apply any flea spray or anything (I use bathing as an opportunity to apply insect sprays and fly repellent specially made for guinea pig as my boys live outdoors), then continue to dry him, you can use a hair dryer, put it on low heat, if its too hot for you, its too hot for yout guinea pig, make sure he's dry before putting him back in his cage, cus you dont; want him to sick.

Good luck :)

edit. no bathing wont; encourage them to trust each other, in fact it may even have an opposite effect. Guinea pigs absolutely hate baths and it scares teh hell out of them. Your guinea pig may even associate the other guinea pig with the experience of havign a bath and so associate that guine apig with somethign bad and therefore not trust it at all. Your guinea pigs need to get to know each other first, trust will develop over time.
